Medications

Interview with Brian, Marty, Linda and Charlie

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Brian: No. I need my medication for anxiety, Zantac and the jail would not give it to me. I was not able to get access to another medication. I need medication for sleeplessness, anxiety and depression. I did not get it until I saw the Jail Psychiatrist before it was brought for the night time medication when the nurse came.
Marty: Not unless the jail knew what you were on and you or a doctor could prove it...
Linda: no
Charlie: yes

JM: How did you get your medications?
Brian: It was given to us by the Nurse off the Medication Cart in the Morning and at night time.
Marty: I did not receive my meds, but for those who did, a nurse came onto the POD
Linda: in the morning threw nurse
Charlie: thru the nice nurse

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Brian: You would be taken to the "hole" if you were caught with drugs or involved with drugs. You were locked up in your cell until you were taken to the "hole" etc which was the 7th or 8th floor.
Marty: 48 hour lock-in
Linda: the hole
Charlie: did not incure any

the jail isnt a resort but when people have serious mental issues and need pills to calm themselves they should be given med. or then other problems will cause them to get mean and fight with other people.. so think about that keeping them in there like animals.. they are HUMANS it is not a resort but God makes everyone different and people need medicine to make them RIGHT.. yeah people go to jail but some of them do things before they think about what they do.

I have been on clonazepam for about six years. If I am ever in the unfortunate situation of being locked up in ACJ, will I receive my medication?

The jail will verify with your doctor that you are prescibed the medication you say and or may hve their own doctor check you out. The jail can be dumb about giving medication when needed, so avoid going, but if you do have your doctor contact the jail, that would be the quickest and easiset to get your meds.

Gotta have your doc call to verify, that is the fastest and easiest way.

Unfortunately, they always reply, "hey it's jail." As though that answers your question. The only medical attention you will get right away without question, is if you stop breathing, everything else at the county jail is fill out one of those pink forms and pray they see you soon. Any medication you take from the outside, make sure you have your people make your doctor call and verify your medication to avoid those issues and avoid getting sick and or hurt.
